5. 5 Biosafety Levels of Containment Containment involves a combination of laboratory issues to include:
Standard microbiological practices
Personal protective equipment
Safety equipment
Primary barrier
Laboratory facilities
Secondary barrier

7. 7 BSL-1 - Overview Suitable for work involving well- characterized agents not known to cause disease in healthy adult humans and of minimal potential hazard to laboratory personnel and the environment. 
8. 8 Examples of Organisms Requiring BSL-1  Bacillus subtilis
 Saccharomyces cerevisiae
 Staphylococcus epidermidis
 Escherichia coli K-12

(all are risk group 1 organisms)

Prohibit eating, drinking and smoking
Prohibit mouth pipetting

All such events must be reported to the IBC
