  3. I happily worked 15 years as a computer lab coordinator at a nursing school in higher education. Then after the death of my first husband I felt the need for a change. Thus, I returned to school to get my masters in library media. At 40 years old I began my new career as a school library media specialist in Cobb County. A position in which I could use my technology skills and share my love of libraries. I always intended to return to school to complete my doctorate so I could one day become a professor and to model life long learning for my own children. The Instructional Technology Specialist degree is the first step on my way. In the program I have learned much…making me a better and more thoughtful media specialist. Introduction

  4. MEDT8463 Issues in Instructional Technology MEDT8461 Diffusion of an Innovation MEDT7470 Video Production MEDT7467 Web Design for Instruction MEDT7462 Internet Tools MEDT8484 Research Seminar MEDT8480 Program Evaluation MEDT7461 Instructional Design Project Examples

  5. In this course I learned about issues that are affecting the integration of technology in education and set goals for myself during the course of the Instructional Technology Program. • An example of a technology I learned about is reflected in the project: • The Big Three Questions Applied to Portable Media Players MEDT8463 Issues in Instructional Technology

  6. In this course I learned how to effectively diffuse a program or new technology in an educational setting. • Along the way, I learned the importance of including stakeholders at all levels. Here is an example: • Stakeholder Interview MEDT8461 Diffusion of an Innovation

  7. In this course I learned how to create, and teach students to create, different types of video products for a wide variety of instructional purposes (ex. promotion of a program or student created digital stories). • Several examples follow: • Challenges of the Early United States • Resource Kit • Mortimer and Melinda: The Magnificent Magicians MEDT7470 Video Production

  8. In this course I learned how to design and create educational web pages using Dreamweaver and Photoshop . • The following website is currently in use with fourth grade classes at my school: • Exploring the Planets and Stars MEDT7467 Web Design for Instruction

  9. In this course I learned about tools that are available on the Internet and how they can be used to maximize and enhance instruction. • One of the benefits of Internet tools is the ability to collaborate with others. The following is an example of a presentation that was collaboratively created online using slideshare.net: • Online Collaboration Tools MEDT7462 Internet Tools

  10. In this course I learned all about the research process, from how to conduct a literature review to writing a proposal, and on to writing a book review for publication in a professional journal. This class was especially valuable to me as I aspire to holding a university faculty position in the future. • Using Screencasts to Differentiate Instruction for Students as They Use WebQuests and Create Digital Stories MEDT8484 Research Seminar

  11. In this course, first I learned what a program evaluation was and then how to ethically and properly conduct one. I envision myself using this in both my current position and future jobs. As a media specialist I will conduct self-evaluations of how well my media center is meeting the needs of my patrons and administration. • PROGRAM EVALUATION PLAN – TO BE ADDED MEDT8480 Program Evaluation

  12. In this course, I learned about instructional design models and how to use Understanding Backward Design to create instructional units for both students and staff. • One of the most valuable things about this class is that I created three ready-to-use in-service modules. The following is an example of one • IN-SERVICE MODULE – TO BE ADDED WHEN COMPLETED MEDT7461 Instructional Design
