  2. Young Life Shakira was born on February 2, 1977. Her full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll. She had a Lebanese father and a Colombian mother. She had always liked to sing and dance. Shakira had been taught to belly dance by age 10. She had an audition with Sony Corp. in 1990, and became a singer later that year.

  3. Music Shakira started her music career in 1990. She had stage fright when she started but she overcame that at her first concert in Bogota. Shakira is still making music and performing in concerts today.

  4. Special Events Shakira had always wanted to have a grammy presented to her. Well finally that happened. Shakira had gotten a grammy for best Latin pop album. Shakira is now a UNICEF ambasador and the founder of the Pies Descalos foundation. Pies Descalos helps children raised around violence.
