Objectives • The student will • Understand the tools panel • Know the tools available in the panel • Know how to uncover hidden tools • Know how to zoom in and out and move the screen around
Photoshop • We will be learning Photoshop CS4 • My goal is to cover enough where you can make a composition.
The Tools Panel • Video… • The tools panel is on the left hand side and has 4 sections: Drawing and Type Select, Crop and Measure 3D and Navigation Retouch and Painting
The Tools Panel • Once a tool is selected the menu across the top of the screen changes to show options for that tool:
Hidden Tools • A small triangle at the bottom right corner of a tool button means that are additional tools hidden under the tool button. • Click and Hold on the tool to access the other tools:
Moving around the screen • Zoom • There are multiple ways to zoom in and out on a picture: • Use zoom on the View menu • Use the zoom tool button (Can sweep an area to zoom in on) • Hit CNTL+/CNTL-/CNTL0/CNTL1
Moving Around the Screen • Hand tool • Use the hand tool to grab and drag the screen around
Summary • Photoshop calls parts of the screen “panels” not tool bars, etc. • Toolbar has hidden tools which maybe selected by clicking and holding a tool button. • Use zoom and the hand tool to navigate to the part of the image you wish to work with
