No time to see, when woods we pass, Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty's glance, And watch her feet, how they can dance. No time to wait till her mouth can Enrich that smile her eyes began.   4. Psychologists have found that people who naturally savour things experience more positive emotions • They have also found that people who practice savouring and make an effort to do it can increase their own happiness. Complete your savouring quiz How much do you naturally savour?

  5. Savouring Experiment • You are going to complete a savouring experiment by eating two treats in three different ways. • Your teacher will give you the first treat. Eat it. • When you get the second treat – savour it. Look at it closely. Smell it. Put it in your mouth without chewing it – how does it taste and feel in your mouth? Pay attention to the process of chewing and swallowing. Notice the after-taste and any other sensations or flavours after swallowing. • Follow up discussion: how do the two experiences compare? Consider what happens when you eat with no savouring at all (e.g. popcorn during an engaging film – you don’t notice how much you’re eating)

  6. Sherwood Savouring Challenge • Your assignment: take time and savour one thing today or tonight. It could be eating a favourite food, listening to a favourite piece of music, walking outside, working out in the gym etc • Miss Jones has prizes for the most creative savouring experience, and the best written reflection. Hand your entries into her before the end of the week.

  7. Written reflection • What experience did you choose to savour? • What did you taste/smell/touch/hear/see? • How did you feel while you were savouring? • Was it hard or easy to savour? Why? • How did you feel afterwards?
