  5. What does EDIS do? • EDIS serves as a single CAP-based repository for alert messages concerning Californians. • It keeps the messages accessible for a period of time (active, archive) (c) Hormann America, Inc.

  6. What does EDIS do? EDIS provides local, state, and federal agencies, as well as a small number of special organizations (such as public utilities) with a direct link to the news media, EAS, NOAA Weather Radio, and the citizens of California. (c) Hormann America, Inc.

  7. What does EDIS do? EDIS allows the operator to create a single message to replace the multiple messages that otherwise must be created to meet the requirements of various warning systems and devices. (c) Hormann America, Inc.

  8. What does EDIS do? EDIS expands public warning to the Internet. Warnings may be received--for free--via e-mail, pager, website, or a desktop client applicationthatpresents warnings in near-real-time.Warnings are available for posting on other websites. (c) Hormann America, Inc.

  9. What Does EDIS Do? EDIS messages may be created using secure Internet connection, allowing authorized operators to create warnings from any web browser at any time without purchasing special hardware or software. (c) Hormann America, Inc.

  10. What Does EDIS Do? EDIS provides an inexpensive, reliable tool for distributing official information. State OES maintains the main and the backup servers in Sacramento and Los Alamitos. (c) Hormann America, Inc.

  11. What Does EDIS Do? EDIS makes emergency information more accessible to the deaf and hearing-impaired as well as to non-English speakers by providing text elements that can be used as necessary. (c) Hormann America, Inc.

  12. What Does EDIS Do? EDIS is integrated with other warning systems, includingNOAA Weather Radio, broadcast EAS, and the federal networks currently in development (IPAWS and HazCollect). (c) Hormann America, Inc.

  13. What Does EDIS Do? EDIS is fully compatible with the Common Alerting Protocol, enabling plug-and-play with additional CAP-compliant tools.Usingthe CAP standard enables vendor independence and providesa“plug and play” approach for additional warning components as needed. (c) Hormann America, Inc.

  14. What Does EDIS Do? EDIS works with GIS systems to allow precision warnings to be created. It can be linked to reverse dialing systems, indoor and outdoor sirens, electronic signage, tone-alert radios, and other location-specific warning devices. EDIS can be used as the nucleus of an expanded local/regional warning system. (c) Hormann America, Inc.
