  3. Warm-up Fire and Ice by Robert Frost (first published in 1920) Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice. • Read the poem on the left. It uses the symbolism of fire and ice and their destructive power. • How do fire and ice also act as symbols in Night? • What does the fire represent? • What about the ice/snow?
