Training Program Delivery Strategies • Goals • Provide convenience & choice to our customers by offering a variety of training solutions that best meet their needs • Traditional instructor-led, classroom-based learning • Online and “virtual” learning • “Blended” learning • Remain competitive with industry best practice delivery options • nearly 66% of organizations offer online/blended learning choices & the numbers are increasing • multi-day classroom training events are decreasing • Result • Agreement to consider blended option for Safety Management Techniques (SMT) as a starting point • Long term opportunity to reinvent ASC

SMT Proposed Blended Learning Design • Blended design work begun in January, 2011 • Goals • Update & revise SMT course content (last revision – 2000) • Develop alternatives for how various segments of SMT subject matter (& ultimately other multi-day ASC courses) are delivered • Reduce overall classroom time (by 50%) while simultaneously maximizing the effectiveness of available class time • Incorporate new media into SMT delivery

SMT Proposed Blended Learning Design • Course Elements & Flow - (completed over a 2-3 week timeframe TBD) • Prework (self-paced) –> Self-study readings, possible on-the-job assignments, online study • Introductory Webinar(instructor-led) –> Introductions, debrief prework, preview what is to come in the course • On-Going Assignments/Activities(self-paced) –> Paired & small group activities, possible on-the-job assignments, online study • Follow-up Webinar(instructor-led) –> To debrief key learnings & respond to questions from the activities & assignments • 2-Day Classroom Conclusion(instructor-led) –> To cover topics that are best addressed in-person in the classroom & bring all elements together

What’s next for ASC? • Market research • Value of an ASC certificate. • Value of expanding ASC certificate by increasing classes and offering two levels of certificate. • Value of ASC courses for developing safety skills, i.e. value independent of certificate. • Expectations for various delivery methods, considering classroom, online and blended.
