WHY DO WE HAVE FOUR SEASONS? • During this year, the seasons change depending on the amount of sunlight reaching the surface and the Earth’s tilt as it moves around the sun. • In the summer, the Earth is tilted closer to the sun so it is hotter • In the winter, the Earth is tilted farther away from the sun so it is much colder

  3. FALL • During the fall, leaves turn red, orange, yellow, and brown and fall off of the trees • Autumn is another name for fall • The days get shorter and the weather gets cooler • People usually wear pants and a sweatshirt, as it gets closer to winter they get ready to wear their heavy jackets • Fun things to do in the fall: • Rake leaves and jump in the piles • Watch football • Halloween & Thanksgiving • Pick apples and pumpkins

WINTER • Very cold temperatures • There can be snow or ice • Days are short and nights are long • The trees have no leaves on their branches • Some animals go into hibernation • Clothing for the winter • Heavy coat, scarf, hat, gloves, snow boots, and snowsuits • Fun activities/events in the winter • Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanza, Valentines day • Ice skating, skiing, sledding • Build a snowman

  5. SPRING • The days begin to get longer • The weather gets warmer • Tiny green buds begin to form on tree branches and flowers begin to bloom • The grass starts to get greener • Animals come out of hibernation • Fun things to do in the spring: • Earth Day • Pick the blossoming flowers • Riding bikes

  6. SUMMER • The weather is hot and the sun is very bright • People usually wear shorts and a t-shirt, sandals, sunglasses, and it is very important to wear sunscreen. • Insects are buzzing and birds build nests high up in the trees • Fun Activities to do in the summer: • Go to the beach or go swimming • Summer camp • Play outside • Go to amusement or water parks
