Colossae • Large Jewish population 2:16-17 • Angel worship was a tradition 2:18 • Gnosticism2:18, 23 • Asceticism2:20-23 • Colossian heresy was a combination of all four • Jews and mystic Gnostics (the knowing ones) intimidated simple Christians “deep” Rev. 2:24 • Christians had only Christ 1 Cor. 2:2 • Christians have only CHRIST! Col. 2:9-10

Colossians 2:8-10 • Don’t be fooled by false worldly philosophies v.8 • Consider the greatness of Christ v. 9 • All divinity dwells in Him bodily v.9 • Marks of divinityin 1 :15-18, John 1, Hebrews 1 • You are complete in Christv.10 • Head of all principality and power v.10, 13-19 • All treasures of wisdom and knowledge v.3 • Consider the greatness of Christ1:15-18

Colossians 2:8-10 • Image of the invisible Godv.15 • Firstborn over all creation v.15 • Creator of everything in heaven and earth v.16 • All created for Him v.16 • Sustainer of all things v.17 • Firstborn from the dead v.18 • Head of the church v.18 • Preeminent in all things v.18 • Christ is supreme;our life with Him should be 3:1-4; 2:11-13
