What is Encore! • Publication produced by the UA Vocal Music Boosters and distributed free of charge at each performance • Includes: • Information about the choral program • Performance schedule • Profiles of the senior class • Recognition of all benefactors and program sponsors. • Approximately half of 2010-11 ENCORE! featured business advertisements.

  3. Why is Encore! Important? • Funds raised through Encore! Sponsorships and Ads help the UAHS Vocal Music Department maintain and expand its high quality program • Eight Choral Groups • Large Cast Broadway-Style Musical • Fall Follies • East Coast Symphonic Choir Tour alternate years (2013) • Professional Direction Beyond Vocal Instruction (Choreography, Theatrical, Master Classes) • Major Work (Gloria- Dec 2011) • Adjudicated Competition at District and State Level

  4. 2011-2012 ENCORE! Fundraising Goal • Capital Improvement Project: • Additional speakers in the auditorium • Replacing lighting that is 20 years old • Updating the UA Vocal Music Website: UAVocalMusic.org • Past year’s funds provided: • New choir robes • Stage risers • Basic auditorium sound and lighting equipment • Refurbishment of the Knabe piano

  5. STUDENTS GOAL:- Get Sponsors and Ads - Familiarize yourself with ENCORE! and the many options available for sponsors: • Ads: Quarter, Half, or Full page • Front or Back Cover • NEW this Year!! Website advertising!! • Corporate and Personal Benefactors (Businesses or People listed in Encore! but no ad)

  6. Look around the community and think of businesses or people that would be likely to support UA school programs and would benefit from advertising in the ENCORE! • Create a goal • Target Independently owned UA businesses: - Remember your dentist, orthodontist, music teacher • Work in pairs if it is more comfortable • Find the right person at the business - Supervisor, Manager, or Owner

Explain to Sponsors Why You are Asking for Their Support • Help raise funds for a Capital Improvement Project: Updating Lights and Speakers • Underwrite the Winter Musical • Create musical opportunities beyond the funding we receive from the school • Update the UA Vocal Music Website UAVocalMusic.org

  8. Explain the Benefits of Buying an Ad in the ENCORE! • An audience of approximately 10,000 people will see the ads in the ENCORE! at performances throughout the year. • All ENCORE! Supporters are recognized on our website UAVocalMusic.org

  9. Explain the benefits of Advertisingon the Website UAVMB Website Reaches: UA VOCAL MEMBERS YOUR FAMILIES OUR COMMUNITY 60 to 70% of Tickets are Sold Through the Website UAVocalMusic.org

  10. Show a Copy of the ENCORE!, Pointing Out: • Variety of sizes available: - Quarter, Half, and Full pages - Back Cover, Inside Covers, Centerfolds • Corporate and Personal Benefactors • Website Advertising: • Banner on Home page • Banner on Performance pages • Logo or Link on Performance pages

  11. Your Goal is to Sell— As Many Ads as Possible—Remember to bePolite, Friendly and Enthusiastic! • As a last resort, leave an order form and ask them to send it in or to contact you.

Now What? • On Front, Write Your Name and Sponsor Information • On Reverse, Indicate Their Advertising Choice • Collect Their Ad: - Camera ready or JPEG file - Ads will be black and white - Actual size will be best quality • Collect Their Check • Turn in to Mr. Kauffman or mail it to UAVMB Questions?
