  1. Kendrion designs and manufactures electromagnetic brakes and clutches for industrial driving systems. They are utilised to accelerate, brake, position, hold and securely move drive components and loads. Areas of application for brakes and clutches include robotics, automation, conveyor technology, tooling equipment, production engineering, medical technology, and lift technology. Kendrion Binder’s Permanent Magnet Brake: High Torque Series Kendrion Binder’s permanent magnet brake high torque series takes full advantage of the well-known benefits of permanent magnet brakes. Due to a re-design of the magnetic circuit, it offers additional benefits such as increased torque at the same size and power consumption, high torque consistency throughout the service life, and an expanded temperature range. The High Torque brake is intended to work dry. The force created by the permanent magnetic field provides the braking action. To counteract this, an opposing electromagnetic field cancels out the magnetic flux of the permanent magnets.

  2. Design and Operation of the High Torque Brake The field coil is securely fastened between the housing and flange of the High Torque brake. The flying leads needed to connect the field coil exit at specific locations on magnets positioned axially between the housing and flange create the magnetic field necessary for the braking action. the brake. Permanent The armature is attached to the flange hub using segmental springs and rivet fasteners, resulting in an axially moveable, torsion-proof, and friction- free connection. This guarantees that there is no remaining torque when horizontally or vertically. applying the brakes

  3. The rated air gap between the armature and housing of the high-torque brake is automatically adjusted during brake mounting. The flange hub is mounted to the machine shaft in such a way that a torsion-free and axially fixed connection is obtained. The persistent magnetic field attracts and pulls the armature, which is in frictional contact with the housing and flange. The resulting friction force provides braking torque. When DC power is supplied to the High Torque brake’s field coil, the alternative electromagnetic field offsets the force imposed on the armature by the permanent magnetic field, causing the brake to release due to the spring force. Except for the limited force applied by the segmental springs, the shaft to be braked is not subjected to any additional axial force. Kendrion continues to lead the way in providing innovative, high-precision electromagnetic solutions that meet the complex needs of global industries.
