This lesson focuses on the themes of wishes, consequences, and literary analysis in "The Monkey's Paw" by W.W. Jacobs and "The Third Wish." Students will articulate their own three wishes (excluding the wish for more wishes) and analyze the mood and resolution of both stories. Activities include reviewing mood definitions, examining character motivations, and determining how wishes impact the stories' outcomes. Reflection questions will deepen understanding of foreshadowing, fate versus coincidence, and the overarching lessons learned.
