  2. Graduation Requirements Entering Freshmen 2011-2012 & thereafter • *Must obtain a combination of four advanced measures.

  3. Grade Classification All students will be classified for grade placement based on the following: 9th Grade 0 – 5.5 credits 10th Grade 6 – 11.5 credits 11th Grade 12 – 18.5 credits 12th Grade 19 – 26 credits 9th grade repeaters will not be enrolled at Cano Academy or the comprehensive high schools.

  4. Grade Point Average (GPA) • An average of grades in English, math, science, and social studies & other AP courses for entering freshmen 2011-2012 & thereafter. • Determines class rank & is a factor when applying for scholarships.

  5. Calculation of Class Ranking • All graduating students shall be ranked by grade point average (GPA). The ranking shall be calculated at the end of each term/semester. If the averages of two or more students are identical, a tie shall be declared.

  6. Middle School Grades • Grade point average shall be determined through credits earned in grades 9–12. Credits earned in grades 7–8 shall not be used in the determination of GPA.

Automatic Admission A student is eligible for automatic admission to a Texas public college or university as an undergraduate student if the applicant earned a grade point average in the top 10% of the student’s high school graduating class or the top 7% of eligible 2014 summer/fall freshmen applicants for admission to the University of Texas at Austin.

  9. Course Exemptions • Grades earned in traditional correspondence courses, pass/fail courses, concurrent enrollment/dual credit courses except campus-based Advanced Placement (AP) programs, summer school courses, evening high school courses, Edgenuity (formerly e2020), distance learning courses, and through credit by examination shall not be considered when determining class ranking.
