  2. Read Aloud • You will be listening to a folktale from the country of India called “The Blue Jackal Who Showed His True Colors.” • Folktales: -are stories that are passed down orally. -contain a plot that teaches a lesson. -reflect the customs and beliefs of a culture.

  3. To pay homage to a person or thing is to show great respect to that person or thing.

  4. How do you think the animals of the jungle treated the blue jackal before his fur was dyed blue?

  5. To be crestfalledn means to feel very disappointed after feeling very happy or confident.
