Exploring Number Sentences That Equal 100: Engaging Math Activities

Today, we will explore various number sentences that sum to 100 using addition. You'll need a pencil, your math journal, and a hundred's chart. First, discuss with a partner how many different combinations of two addends can equal 10 and then transition to those that sum to 100. Work through exercises like 50 + ? = 100 and 40 + ? = 100, making connections between addition problems. Predict how many different number sentences can be formed to reach 100, share your reasoning, and work collaboratively to list all possibilities with your partner.
