Owlsen's Adventure By Tommy Jenkins
Once upon a time there was an owl named Owslen. He lived with his sister, Owlena. They would go about doing normal owl things. One day, Owlsen decided that he would go to Owl Academy, the best school in all of Feather Forest. That is what this story is about, so sit back and enjoy.
It was midnight in Feather Forest. Owlsen was on his way to Owl Academy. He was flying along without a care when he spotted a large, juicy vole. As owls normally eat vole more than anything else, he said, “Yummy yummy! Time to get some lunch! I think I know how to hunt!” He swooped noisily toward the vole. It was alerted by the noise, and shot off into the thick trees. Owlsen followed it, crashing into branches with his wings along the way. When he got close, he reached out with his wings and… he hit a tree. “Darn it!! Just another reason to go to Owl Academy!”
At Owl Academy, Owlsen was sitting at his desk. His teacher was named Mrs. Owlberta, and she was nice, but very strict. She taught very interesting things, too. The tufts on top of his head were not, in fact, his ears. His ears were on the sides of his head, like those humans, sort of. One ear was higher on his head than the other!
That night, Owlsen learned about hunting. He learned that you have to take off silently, so that the prey can’t hear you.
