  9. NCSS I/UCRC Cloud Computing Projects • Dynamic Service Composition with QoS Assurance (Lockheed Martin Aero) • Develop a model and a suite of techniques to enable SOA based “Distributed Governance” for effectively coordinating a complex system of physical entities • QoS-Reconfigurable Web Services and Compositions for High-Assurance Systems • Develop methods for real-time QoS analysis and composition of reconfigurable services in changing environments, including command & control systems, airspace management systems, etc.

  10. NCSS I/UCRC Cloud Computing Projects • Framework for QoS-Assured and Power-Aware Service Composition (Boeing) • Collaborative QoS and power management in the service cloud and handheld devices that access the cloud • Consider a global environment with distributed service domains and wired/wireless service providers • Energy Efficient Query Monitoring and Processing in Massive Database Systems (HP) • Reduce carbon footprints of data centers by increasing power efficiency and reducing hot-spots based on advanced query monitoring and data relocation methods

  11. NCSS I/UCRC Cloud Computing Projects • A Power Optimization Framework for Multi-Core Handheld Devices (TI) • Develop an advanced power optimization framework to achieve better power management, especially for hand-held multi-core devices

  12. NCSS I/UCRC Cloud Computing Projects • Self-Detection of Abnormal Event Sequences (Cisco Systems) • Given a set of event sequences, use machine learning strategies to automatically detect the occurrence of any abnormal situations to a high degree of accuracy • Evaluation Tools for Software Components and Services (Raytheon) • Develop a set of tools to enable the objective and accurate evaluation of the quality, performance, and dependability of software components and services

  13. NCSS I/UCRC Cloud Computing Projects • Protecting Resource-Constrained RFID through Security Fusion (Globe Ranger) • Develop new “security fusion” paradigm using programmable FSM in Globe Ranger’s iMotion platforms to effectively handle privacy and integrity concerns for emerging RFID technology • Improving security and performance of memory systems • Design a unified memory hierarchy for multi-core systems • Memory can be customized for applications • Side-channel security attacks can be prevented
