Parent Involvement NBES Parent Engagement Coordinator, Mrs. Melissa Alexander • Brooks County Schools welcomes and encourages YOU as a parent or guardian to collaborate with us as a school system to be involved in your child’s education • Parent Resource Room Hours: Mon. – Fri. 8am to 3pm • KNOW the personnel in your child’s school that can assist and support questions and concerns you may have. • ASK QUESTIONS-LISTEN-OBSERVE-UNDERSTAND

  3. Parent Resource Room • Provides resources and tools for parents to reinforce at home. • Serves as a gateway of knowledge to understand various learning techniques that your child is learning in the classroom. • Mrs. Melissa Alexander, Parent Engagement Coordinator has more information.

Parents Right To Know • In Compliance with the requirements of the “No Child Left Behind” statute, Brooks County Schools informs parents that you may request information about the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher(s). • The Following information may be requested: - Whether the teacher has met the Georgia Professional Standards Commission requirements for certification for the grade level and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction.”

Parents Right To Know cont. - Whether the teacher is teaching under an emergency or other provisional status through which Georgia qualifications or certification criteria have been waived. • The college major and any graduate certification or degree held by a teacher. • Whether the student is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualifications * If you wish to request information concerning your child’s teachers qualifications, contact the Personnel Office, 229-263-7531

School-Parent Compact A School-Parent Compact is an outline and agreement between the school and parents that confirms that both, along with the student will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement as well as describes how school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards. Please review the compact that is being passed around. We ask that you please returned the signed compacts to your school by thisFriday.

Parent Involvement Policy • North Brooks Elementary School recognizes that parent involvement is essential to the success of each student in helping them succeed in school and complete high school requirements for graduation. This policy is a reflection of parent and staff input. Parent Partners • The faculty and staff at each school recognizes that a child’s education is a responsibility shared by the school and family during the entire period the child spends in school. To support the goal of the school to educate all students effectively, the school and parents must work as knowledgeable partners.   10. Parent Connections • Parent Connections is a workshop centered initiative that provides resourceful tools and experience for both parents and their child. The school system partners with ECHOES and Family Connections to provide free dinner, free childcare and transportation. • NBES Parent Connections September 17th 5:30-7:30 pm * (4) 25 minute workshops.
