Current Events
In February 2008, Turkey launched a military operation against Kurdish rebels in Northern Iraq, escalating tensions as the rebels continued attacks on Turkish territory. With around 10,000 troops mobilized, Turkey aims to stabilize the region in a campaign expected to last approximately 15 days. Concurrently, the U.S. faces rising economic pressures, with a significant increase in foreclosures affecting hundreds of thousands of homes. Meanwhile, political dynamics shift as Republican candidates vie for support, with McCain endorsed by former President Bush, though skepticism remains regarding his conservative credentials.
