  1. First Grade Friends’ News August 26 - 30, 2013 Welcome Back to School!!!!! We are so excited to start a new year at Goshen Creek Elementary! We can’t wait to get to know your child and help them continue to grow and learn! Please be sure your teacher knows how your child will be getting home from school each day! Dates: *Labor Day ~ September 2nd ~ No School *End of the 1st six weeks~ Friday, October 4th *Columbus Day October 7th ~ No School Behavioral Plans: Establishing classroom rules and expectations the first week of school is crucial! It sets the tone of how the class will run and let's the students know what's expected of them early in the year. Please talk to your child throughout the week about the basic classroom rules that their class is going to follow and why we chose those specific rules. Reading/Language Arts: *Good Listeners during Shared Reading Phonics: *Alphabet Review Writing: *Introduction to the Writer’s Notebook • Math: • Numbers • 0 to 30 Science: *Properties & Patterns in Weather Social Studies: *Interacting with others at school *Rules & Consequences The First Grade Teachers: Wendy Ashley, Heather Gifford, Ashley Gilley, Mallory Myers, and Monica Scarbro
