  1. Email: Managing The Mess Taylor Goot

  2. Groupwise: Welcome to your Email • Well, soon… • In the interim, lets talk about what’s in store.

  3. Professional Email • Important, time sensitive information comes through your email. • You must be able to access and act upon messages in a timely fashion. • General consensus on residents and email: • They don’t answer, and it’s not clear they read anything. • Please don’t be this person

  4. The fluff/spam/junk emails • Unfortunately as a UNM employee, you are included on a ton of less than relevant email. • I suggest against using groupwise for anything other than doctory things. You don’t need the extra spam. • Professional societies: ACP, AAIM, etc. • Physician recruiters (just so many…)

  5. General Notes • The info will be on the wiki • Just pay attention to the concepts and the gist of how. • Groupwise can be accessed from a desktop client, web interface, or from your phones native client. • Focus will be on the desktop client as the options are more robust

  6. Easy: Mark items that need follow up

  7. Now to deal with the mess

  8. Add the sender to the junk list

  9. My List

  10. Organize: Add folders

  11. Create Rules: Auto filter incoming email

  12. Creating your rule

  13. “Define Conditions”

  14. Again, this will be on the Wiki Speaking of… unmimresident.pbworks.com
