  1. Holy Holidays

  2. Beware of Subtle Disguises

  3. The Devil Works in Subtle Ways • (1 Peter 5:8) • Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (NKJV) • (Genesis 3:1) Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?" (NKJV)

  4. The Devil Works in Subtle Ways • (2 Corinthians 11:3) But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. (NKJV) • (John 8:44) "You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. (NKJV)

  5. Think About the True Meaning of Life • (Luke 12:15) • And He said to them, "Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses." (NKJV)

  6. Tis the Season For Covetousness & Greed

  7. Christmas Can Deceive Us Into Developing Worldly Attitudes • “...remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” (Ac. 20:35)

  8. Be Cautious Not to Develop an Addiction to “Stuff” • (1 John 2:15-17) Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. (NKJV) • (Hebrews 13:5) Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." (NKJV)

  9. Be Cautious Not to Become Guilty of Gluttony (OUCH!) • (Proverbs 23:20) Do not mix with winebibbers, Or with gluttonous eaters of meat; (NKJV) • (Philippians 3:18-19) For many walk…they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly…who set their mind on earthly things. (NKJV)

  10. Gluttony Defined • “a belly” – Vine’s Expository Dictionary • Derogatory term used of Christ spoken of equally with a drunkard: • "The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Look, a glutton and a winebibber…” (Mat. 11:19)

  11. The Danger of the Love of Money (And the things it buys): • (1 Timothy 6:7-11) • For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. (NKJV)

  12. All Belongs to God • (Job 41:11) Who has preceded Me, that I should pay him? Everything under heaven is Mine. (NKJV) • (Deuteronomy 10:14) "Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the LORD your God, also the earth with all that is in it. (NKJV)

  13. All Belongs to God • (Exodus 19:5) …all the earth is Mine. (NKJV) • (Psalms 50:12) “…the world is Mine, and all its fullness. (NKJV) • (Haggai 2:8) 'The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,' says the LORD of hosts. (NKJV)

  14. Covetousness/Love of Money: Focusing on the Wrong Things • (Psalms 1:1-2) • Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. (NKJV)

  15. The Christian Attitude: Serving and Sharing With Others • (Isaiah 58:7) Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? (NKJV) • (Proverbs 25:21) If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; (NKJV) • (Proverbs 3:28) Do not say to your neighbor, "Go, and come back, And tomorrow I will give it," When you have it with you. (NKJV)

  16. The Christian Attitude: Serving and Sharing With Others • (Matthew 5:42) "Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away. (NKJV) • (Luke 3:11) He answered and said to them, "He who has two tunics, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise." (NKJV)
