Understanding Herpetologists: Study of Reptiles and Amphibians

A herpetologist is a biologist specializing in the study of reptiles and amphibians. To pursue this career, aspiring herpetologists must attend college with a strong focus on science, math, and English. Notable figures in this field include Steve Irwin, who tragically passed away in 2006 during a filming accident. Herpetologists often study snakes through techniques like "milking" to collect venom, which can be used in medical treatments for snake bites. With over 27,000 species of snakes, herpetology offers endless opportunities for exploration and discovery.
