  1. Bowling For Columbine By: Veronica Lindsey

  2. Bowling For Columbine Writer: Michael MooreDirector: Michael MooreStars: Michael Moore, Cherlston Heston, Marilynn MansonBudget: 4,000,000 (estimated) Opening Weekend: 209,1 Opener; It was the morning of April 20th 1999, and it was pretty much like any other morning in America. The Farmer did his chores. The milkman made his deliveries. The President bombed another country whose name we couldn't pronounce.

  3. Bowling For Columbine is a dramatic examination of America, it's gun useage, and it's unusual high number of violent crimes (espeically gun related.) The title Bowling For Columbine came from the idea that Eric Harris, and Dylan Klebold went to their p.e. bowling class the morning of the tragic shooting at Columbine High School. These reports have since been found inaccurate.

  4. In the openning scences of Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore is shown going to a Minnesota bank where he will receive a gun for openning an account, although it is speculated by many critics Moore staged this bank scene he made a public annoucement on his website stating, "In the spring of 2001, I saw a real ad in a real newspaper in Michigan announcing a real promotion that this real bank had where they would give you a gun (as your up-front interest) for opening up a Certificate of Deposit account. They promoted this in publications all over the country – More Bang for Your Buck!"

  5. It is argued that Moore included this surprising footage of recieving a gun for openning a bank account in an attempt to show American's just how easily it is to obtain guns; and to introduce the idea that maybe if guns where a little bit more difficult to come by there would be much less gun violence in America. This information is supported later in the movie when Moore reviel's shocking statistics on the ratio of murders from gun's in America.. Germany- 381France- 255 Canada- 165 The United Kingdom- 68Japan - 39 America- 11,127

  6. Budd Dwyer's, former politician in Pennsylvania, very public suicide was shown in Bowling for Columbine.  Some speculate this was to shocking an incident to include in the documentary, where some say it accurately displays how over used guns are.

  7. Moore uses the song "What A Wonderful World" for a controversial montage. • 1954: U.S. overthrows democratically-elected President Arbenz of Guatemala. 200,000 civilians killed. • 1963: U.S. backs assassination of South Vietnamese President Diem. • 1963-1975: American military kills 4 million people in Southeast Asia. • September 11, 1973: U.S. stages coup in Chile. Democratically-elected President Salvador Allende assassinated. Dictator Augusto Pinochet installed. 5,000 Chileans murdered. • 1977: U.S. backs military rulers of El Salvador. 70,000 Salvadorans and four American nuns killed. • 1980s: U.S. trains Osama bin Laden and fellow terrorists to kill Soviets. CIA gives them $3 billion. • 1981: Reagan administration trains and funds the Contras. 30,000 Nicaraguans die. • 1982: U.S. provides billions of dollars in aid to Saddam Hussein for weapons to kill Iranians. • 1983: The White House secretly gives Iran weapons to kill Iraqis. • 1989: CIA agent Manuel Noriega (also serving as President of Panama) disobeys orders from Washington. U.S. invades Panama and removes Noriega. 3,000 Panamanian civilian casualties. • 1990: Iraq invades Kuwait with weapons from U.S. • 1991: U.S. enters Iraq. Bush reinstates dictator of Kuwait. • 1998: Clinton bombs possible weapons factory in Sudan. Factory turns out to be making aspirin. • 1991 to present: American planes bomb Iraq on a weekly basis. U.N. estimates 500,000 Iraqi children die from bombing and sanctions. • 2000-2001: U.S. gives Taliban-ruled Afghanistan $245 million in aid. • Sept. 11, 2001: Osama bin Laden uses his expert CIA training to murder 3,000 people.

  8. Columbine High School, Jeferson County, Colorado Tuesday, April 20th, 1999 "You all better hide in your houses because I'm coming for EVERYONE soon, and i WILL be armed to the teeth and i WILL shoot to kill and i WILL KILL EVERYTHING!" - Eric Harris, Journal Entry

  9. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold will forever be remembered for taking 15 lifes (shooters commited suicide) and injurying 23. Using Intratec TEC-DC9 assault pistol, Hi-Point 9mm Carbine, Savage 67H pump-action shotgun, and a Savage 311-D 12-gauge shotgun. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4064826

  10. Robyn Anderson, a friend of Klebold and Harris, bought the shotguns and the Hi-Point 9mm Carbine at The Tanner Gun Show in December of 1998 from unlicensed sellers.  Klebold and Harris bought the TEC-DC9 from a pizza shop employee named Mark Manes, who knew they were too young to purchase the assault pistol, but nevertheless sold it to them for $500.

  11. In Bowling For Columbine Michael Moore insinuates the reason for the unfortunate events of in the Columbine Massacare was the defense establishment, producing rocket technology in the neighboring town of Littleton. Implying that the presence of this facility demonstrated acceptance of institutionalized violence. During an interview with the Director of Communication at Lockheed Martin (defense establishment) Evan McCollum Moore asks, ""So you don't think our kids say to themselves, 'Dad goes off to the factory every day, he builds missiles of mass destruction. What's the difference between that mass destruction and the mass destruction over at Columbine High School?' Too which McCollum says, "I guess I don't see that specific connection because the missiles that you're talking about were built and designed to defend us from somebody else who would be aggressors against us."

  12. Although Moore did receive alot of critisism for this movie it did raise alot of eyebrows and caused many people to seriously exam the problem of gun use in America.
