They investigate violations of federal laws, including terrorist bombings, kidnappings, and financial fraud. They also assist local police forces by allowing them to use the data they collect from their investigations, including fingerprint files on millions of individuals. Agents within the FBI have different Expertise, we will look at the Cyber aspect.

  3. Applicants that qualify by virtue of a CCNP or a CCIE certification must also have a BS or BA degree in any discipline.

  4. Education Path • I would pursue a bachelors in Computer science from a school like U of M or Alma and from there would take the required tests and checks after applying to the Detroit office, I would then spend 6-7 weeks at the Academy in Virginia before becoming an agent.

  5. Work Conditions • Like many other government employees, agents must be willing to accept positions anywhere in the US upon appointment. Much work is done in an office, but investigations may have to be followed to a variety of locations.

  6. Hours • Hours can be irregular, especially when agents are close to a criminal. On a typical week an agent can work for 50 hours. However, agents are compensated for overtime.

  8. Skills and Aptitudes • The Use of a Firearm, Tactics, and other special training is taught if you pass the Physical Test • All candidates for the position must be in excellent physical condition with no disabilities which would stop them from using a firearm, performing a raid, or executing defensive tactics. Applicants must pass a standardized Physical Fitness Test, the test consists of four events: • Maximum number of sit-ups in one minute • Timed 300-meter sprint • Maximum number of push-ups (untimed) • Timed one and one-half mile (1.5 mile) run
