Drug-Receptor Interaction D + RD-R Complex Biological Response Drugs interact with the receptors in a process known as binding forming D-R complexes which are responsible for the biological response. There is usually a specific area of the receptor where this binding takes place and is known as binding site.

  5. Drug-Receptor Interaction What is pharmacophore? Is a part of the drug which associate with the receptor and considered as an essential part to produce pharmacological action. Examples: Chlorpromazine Diazepam

  7. Drug-Receptor Interaction D + RD-R Complex Biological Response Affinity: Refers to the ability of the drug to interact with receptor. Efficacy: It is the ability of the D-R complex to produce the biological effect. Efficacy differentiates between agonist and antagonist

  8. Drug-Receptor Interaction Drug with good receptor fit, will produce a pharmacological response and described as “agonist”. Drug which could deal with the receptor but with poor receptor fit, will produce a reversed pharmacological response, and the drug described as "antagonist".
