Limited Certification for Urban Landscape Commercial Fertilizer (p. 17 , Appendix 7) Online Application: https://aesecomm.freshfromflorida.com/ • All commercial fertilizer applicators, by January 1, 2014 • Online or paper application • $25 fee, GI-BMP certificate number or copy, photo • Holders exempt from further local testing • Not required for private or institutional applicators • Institutional applicators may be required to obtain GI-BMP training per local ordinance • Renew every 4 years, 4 CEUs Paper Application: http://forms.freshfromflorida.com/13677.pdf

Limited Certification for Urban Landscape Commercial Fertilizer p.17 • Authority to apply only fertilizers in urban landscapes for commercial gain • Does not authorize: • Application of pesticides, including pesticide-fertilizer mixes [i.e. weed and feed] • Operation of pest control business • Application of pesticides or fertilizers by unlicensed or uncertified individuals under the supervision of a certified person

Role of the GI-BMP Instructor • Instructors are instrumental in the protection of Florida’s water • Social and environmental responsibility of training professionals on critical practices • Cooperation, technical expertise and dedication make this program an effective alternative to reduce nonpoint source pollution • Instructors can deliver public and private classes

  19. Earning Instructor Certification p. 19 Instructors need to complete the following four steps: 1. Attend a GI-BMP in-person class, pass the test with a minimum score of 90% [in-person, +2006] 2. Apply to become an instructor [form] 3. Attend the GI-BMP Instructor Training class and pass test with a minimum score of 75% 4. Co-train at least two classes [waiver]

Maintaining Instructor Certification p. 20 • Follow the prescribed content • Keep current with all GI-BMP materials • Use only the most current versions of all materials • Follow the length of time allotted for each module • Teach at least one module per year • Complete refreshers and follow updates
