OBJECTIVE OF THE TRAINING PROGRAMME • Provide the rationale and framework for AEP. • Build the knowledge base of Nodal Teachers on accurate information on growing up, adolescent bodies, STI’s, HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, myths and misconceptions surrounding these issues. • Train the Nodal Teachers to transact training sessions reinforcing skills essential for preventing HIV infections and substance abuse.

  3. Empower the Nodal Teachers to overcome their hesitation and embarrassment in dealing with issues of growing up, sex and sexuality which they may have to deal with, in the course of training and/or in the school situation. Ensure that every school has 2 trained NT who will conduct a skills based AEP in the schools over the course of the academic year.

  5. EXPECTATIONS • TOUNDERSTAND WHY WE ARE DOING THIS PROGRAMME IN SCHOOLS • TO FIND SOLUTIONS OF ADOLESCENT PROBLEMS • TO UNDERSTAND ADOLESCENTS AND THEIR BEHAVIOURS • TO BE ABLE TO HELP ADOLESCENTS BETTER • TO BE ABLE TO CLEAR THEIR DOUBTS AND IMPROVE THEIR POTENTIALS.

  6. GROUND RULES • MAINTAIN CONFIDENTIALITY AT ALL TMES. WHAT IS SHARED BY THE GROUP REMAINS STRICTLY WITHIN IT.

  7. GROUND RULES • PUNCTUALITY AND TIME MANAGEMENT.MUTUAL SUPPORT IN MAINTAINING TIMING FOR THE TRAINING.

  8. GROUND RULES • COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE ON ALL DAYS.

  9. GROUND RULES • OPENNESS. IT IS IMPORTANT TO BE FRANK AND HONEST ; EQUALY NOT TO DISCLOSE OTHERS PERSONAL OR RPIVATE LIVES. IT IS ACCEPTABLE TO DISCUSS GENERAL SITUATIONS WITHOUT USING NAMES

  10. GROUND RULES • NO INTERRUPTIONS. IT IS BETTER TO RISE HANDS SO THAT THE RESOURCE PERSON CAN INVITE THE INDVIDUALS COMMENT.

  11. GROUND RULES • ASK QUESTIONS ONE AT A TIME AND ALSO GIVE OTHERS A CHANCE TO TALK

  12. GROUND RULES • QUESTION CAN ALSO BE ASKED BY WRITING THEM DOWN AND PUTTING THEM IN THE QUESTION BOX IN THE ROOM.

  13. GROUND RULES • NON –JUDGEMENTAL APPROACH. DO NOT LAUGH AT ANY PERSON.
