  6. Now that you have organized research... Begin outlining your paper Introduction • Who is your author? • Why was he an important figure in society? • What did he write about Only touch on these subjects

  7. Outlining Body Paragraph 1 • Time period • What was going on at this time? • What did the author write about? • How does the author’s writing reflect the time period? Give examples of titles, works, major themes, setting, ….

  8. Outlining Body Paragraph 2 • What was the author trying to tell society? • Was he doing this obviously or did he use satire or sarcasm? (like Orwell) • What specific issues was the author writing about?

Outlining Body Paragraph 3 • Did the author’s writing make a difference? • What difference did it make? • How do you know this? • Do many people read this author’s work today? • What acclaim does this author’s work have? #5 can even be a new paragraph if you want to include what was said about the author or his/her works.

  10. Outlining Conclusion • Who is your author? • When did he/she write? • What did he/she write about? • What information was he/she trying to spread? • Did it make a difference? • What is he/she an important figure in society?
