  1. Galatians 6:12-14 “As many as desire to make a good showing in the flesh, these would compel you to be circumcised, only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. For not even those who are circumcised keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh. But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world” (NKJV).

  2. Glorying in the Cross Some glory in their shame (Philippians 3:18-19).

  3. Glorying in the Cross • The futility of glorying in material things . • Paul could have done this (Phil. 3:4-11). • Our affections must be on heavenly things (Col. 3:1-3). • Material Things… • Can be destroyed (Matt. 6:19-21). • Can’t go with us in death ( 1 Tim. 6:6-7). • Salvation does not come through material things (1 Peter. 1:17-19).

  4. Glorying in the Cross • Christians should glory in the cross. • To some—a stumbling-block (1 Cor. 1:22-24). • It is something in which to glory because… • It shows the love of Christ (Rom. 5:6-11). • The innocent suffered for the guilty (1 Pet. 2:22-25). • It brings reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18-19). • Without it there is no remission (Heb. 9:22).

  5. Glorying in the Cross • Christians should glory in the cross. • All that was accomplished by the cross was glorious. • Glorious love (John 15:13-14). • Glorious sacrifice (Hebrews 9:23-28). • It creates a glorious church (Titus 2:11-14).

  6. Glorying in the Cross • Some implications of the cross. • The Christian is crucified to the world (Galatians 6:14). • The Christian has died with Christ (Galatians 2:20). • The Christian must live to Christ (2 Corinthians 5:14-15).
