Electronic Engineering Industrial Placement • Allocated to dedicated project or specialist team • Experience a variety of activities throughout the product lifecycle • Conceptual design • Detailed Design • Design Analysis • Verification Testing • Apply taught knowledge to current projects and investigations • Will be given responsibility to complete packages of work required • Development opportunities exist through day to day work and targeted training

Electronic Engineering Graduates • Allocated to dedicated project or specialist team • Experience a variety of activities throughout the product lifecycle • Conceptual design • Detailed Design • Design Analysis • Verification Testing • Apply taught knowledge to current projects and investigations • Will be given responsibility to complete packages of work required • Obtain appreciation of key business functions to support future development opportunities • Development opportunities exist through day to day work and targeted training

Software Design Industrial Placement students - typically Training lasts 12 months Two, six month placements – software design and software verification Graduates - typically Training lasts up to 24 months First six months in software design Followed by three, four month placements Possible placements in systems design, systems verification, safety , SQA, project management, OS systems design, manufacturing (electronic or hydro-mechanical), slave controls, capability team Must have one placement in software verification Final six months placement back in software design 4

Software Design Software design trainees shall typically receive specific training on: UML modelling Ada95 SPARK Controls Technology Continuous Improvement Introduction Quality Management System Introduction Holistic Gas Turbine – Intermediate Introduction to Product Integrity Introduction to Export Control 5

  6. Systems Graduates and Industrial Placements Requirements gathering and specification Sub-system design Design analysis, including modelling and simulation 6 Problem investigations System integration Verification and validation Safety assessment Failure cause and consequence modelling

  8. Mechanical Engineering Industrial Placement • One year working in industry on diverse projects such as A350 and Boeing 777 • Opportunities to experience both product design and development • Working in existing project teams applying your skills to real world problems

  9. Mechanical Engineering Graduate Placement • Develop your Career with a structured programme that is IMechE accredited • Work on Aerospace projects as diverse as A350 and Boeing 777

Salary & Benefit Information • Graduate Salary - £25,300 per annum • Industrial Placement Salary - £15,200 per annum • Accredited Graduate Programmes i.e. IMechE, IET, RAeS • AEC uses it placement programme to recruit and sponsor its future graduates (60% of students sponsored in 2011) • Usual large company benefits • 25 days plus statutory days • Company bonus scheme • Pension scheme • Flexible working hours in many areas
