  2. Exploring Iceland And Everything In Between!

  3. Exploring Iceland And Everything In Between! From mildly adventurous souls to adrenaline chasers, Iceland is ideal for making a trip this summer. It was a monumental task to pick my favorite spots for this blog. Iceland is an excellent place for road trips. I don’t understand why it is so underrated. I guess there is an upside to being under the radar. I felt like I had the entire place to myself. A lot of planning went into this once-in-a-lifetime trip to Iceland. The trip was a birthday present to my younger sister. She had been my rock all my life, so this time it was my turn to show her my appreciation. I just asked her to bring her passport and pack light. The next thing we knew, we were on a plane to Iceland.

  4. Exploring Iceland And Everything In Between! The second we landed, I knew things were different here as if time moves slower and with more passion. My sister was so excited her voice reached a different octave — the perfect time to visit Iceland in summer. A lot of tourist attractions are open during the summers. It is never too crowded here, so you don’t have to worry about jam-packed hotel lobbies and crowded tourist sites.

  5. Exploring Iceland And Everything In Between! My sister and I have never been the ones to follow a guide and take a tour bus. We design our own itinerary and follow our hearts. The first stop in our itinerary was a road trip to the highlands of Askia Caldera. This wasn’t any regular road trip. The path to Askja was filled with gravel roads, river crossings, lava fields, gigantic boulders, and shifting sands. It took every ounce of my driving skills to get us there safely, but it was so worth it. The view was beyond anything I had ever seen in my life, and the lake was ethereal. We spotted few people there, and just like us, they looked like they had returned from war. After spending few hours amidst nature, we made our way back to the civilization. We had dinner at the hotel we were staying at and went to sleep.

  6. Exploring Iceland And Everything In Between! The next day it was our turn to visit Landmannalaugar. As tricky as the spelling and pronunciation of this place were, the experience was unforgettable. The location is popular among tourists for Sulphur vents, bubbling mud pots, thermal pools, and vibrant colored mountains. Mother nature is the greatest artist there is. I am going to be completely honest, the navigation system failed us big time. The road was unevenly sprinkled with large boulders and river crossings. What was supposed to be a 2-hour road trip took us 4 hours. The hiking in Landmannalaugar gave us ample opportunities to witness breathtaking landscapes. We both felt the sense of accomplishment after our rather adventurous trip cannot be put into words.

  7. Exploring Iceland And Everything In Between! We also found Iceland’s hidden gem, Sigoldugljufur Canyon. This canyon is rarely visited by tourists as very few people are aware of this canyon. The canyon showcases numerous waterfalls and rich wildlife. We took around a thousand pictures there, both of us and the scene. We met a friendly local at the canyon who told us about a tourist spot nearby. We decided to tag along with him and his family to explore this mysterious place. It was a lake named Ljotipollur Crater lake. The site made us feel relaxed and calm. After spending a quiet time there, we made our way back to our hotel to start packing. The trip would not have been possible without the hassle-free American Airlines Reservations.
