Introduction A recognised BTEC Level 3 Hospitality course will enable you to understand the size and scale of the current hospitality industry, explore and understand event management in the hospitality sector and ensure that you understand the impact of the hospitality industry on the environment and can take measures to reduce that impact. When you graduate from the BTEC Hospitality course you will have a recognised qualification. You will be ready for a range of hospitality jobs and on the first step of a career in the hospitality industry.

  3. Introduction You will learn the skills that make for successful hospitality management in accommodation, food and beverage areas, such as staff recruitment and development, operational planning and organisation, and financial management and marketing. Your hospitality management training will also take you into the background of the hospitality industry. You will study legal and statutory requirements. There are three mandatory units in this course. Passing these units will allow you to gain a BTEC Certificate in Hospitality.

  4. Entry Requirements To enrol in the BTEC Hospitality course, you must be aged over 16 and have a good standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a general education. Although not mandatory, some experience in the hospitality sector would be beneficial.

  5. General Data • Hours of study: 180 hours • Study period: Up to 12 months • Cost: £495.20 + Postage • There are no exam fees for our Hospitality course but you will need to pay a registration fee to Edexcel within 28 days of enrolment if you wish to receive your certificate, currently £107.40

  6. What will I gain? On completion of the BTEC Hospitality course, you'll receive the BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Hospitality. Edexcel, a Pearson company, is the UK's largest awarding body offering academic and vocational qualifications and testing to schools, colleges, employers and other places of learning in the UK and internationally. For over 25 years, Edexcel has championed work-related learning through BTECs and other vocational qualifications.

  7. Assessments • Assessments are a great way of checking your progress. During your BTEC Hospitality Management course, you'll complete three written assessments, one per unit, requiring essay type answers. • Generally, assessments can be sent to us online via the ICS Student Community: it's the fastest way to receive your results.

  8. What will I receive? • You'll receive study materials that have been specially designed for distance learning by experts. • As a BTEC Hospitality student, you'll also receive the complimentary textbook - Hospitality Management: an Introduction, by Tim Knowles. • You'll have access to an experienced personal tutor both online and over the phone, ready to help you with guidance and motivation. • You'll also be part of the ICS Online Student Community, where you'll have access to library materials and your account information, as well as vital links with your fellow students.
