Emerging Leaders Course Who? • First Semester Freshmen • Undergraduate & Graduate Student Facilitators What? • 2 Credit Introduction to Leadership Course • 1st Hour- Large Group (approx 40 students) • 2nd Hour- Small Groups (approx 10 students) How? • EIL book and model informs training, curriculum, and assignments ;-)

Emerging Leaders- Training • Facilitators read book over the summer and identified: • Their EIL strengths and limitations • 3 small group or large-group activities • 3 reflection questions • Facilitator Skill and Competency Assessment & Coaching • Facilitators helped develop curriculum • Become part of our “leadership vocabulary” ;-)

  8. Emerging Leaders- Curriculum • 3 Units: • Consciousness of Self • Consciousness of Others • Consciousness of Context • Activities & “Mini-Lecturettes” • Challenge Course • Service Learning • Additional Emphasis on Ethics & Integrity ;-)

Emerging Leaders- Assignments • Reflection Questions • Ex: Group savvy involves interpreting the culture and networks of an organization and learning how to operate and navigate effectively within the culture of the organization. Reflect on a time when you disagreed with an aspect of an organization's culture. What exactly did you disagree with and why? Identify three strategies that could have been used to address this disagreement. • Service Learning Project • Campus Involvement Requirements & Opportunities ;-)
