  4. Seeds Seeds are what we need to grow a plant. Mrs. Selch

  5. Roots Roots store energy & provide support for the plant. Roots also get water & nutrients from the soil. Mrs. Selch

  6. Stems Stems provide support for the plant. Mrs. Selch

  7. Leaves Leaves are the major site for food production. Mrs. Selch

  8. Flowers Flowers hold the reproductive organs to make seeds. Mrs. Selch

  9. Parts of a Flower • Petal • Sepal • Stigma • Style • Anther • Filament • Ovary Mrs. Selch

  10. Petal Petals are colorful & may contain perfume &/or nectar. Mrs. Selch

  11. Sepal Sepals are the small leaves under the flower. Mrs. Selch

  12. Stigma & Style The stigma receives the pollen during fertilization. The style is a tube on top of the ovary. Mrs. Selch

  13. Anther & Filament The anther contains the pollen & the male reproductive organ. A filament holds up the anther. Mrs. Selch

  14. Ovary The female reproductive organ is the ovary. Mrs. Selch
