  2. Human Rights The most important principles are: • The right to life, liberty and security of person; • The right to an education; • The right to employment, paid holidays, protection against unemployment, and social security; • The right to participate fully in cultural life; • Freedom from torture or cruel, inhumane treatment or punishment; • Freedom of thought, conscience and religion; • Freedom of expression and opinion.

  3. Child Labour Although everyone has the same rights, many people are not respected. Even children suffer with this and some of them are forced to work for no pay and taken away from their families. These children have the right to be happy and have a good education but almost no one helps or cares about them.

  4. Children Labour Alice (ten years old) from Ivory Coast left her school and her family and family to live with her aunt. She tought that she would have a better life there but she became the servant of her aunt. Alice was forced to work during all day for no pay. She wasn’t even allowed to sleep when she didn’t work enough.

  5. Children Labour She endured violence and labour for three months when she finally escaped. The police took her to an organization that aims to defend the dignity and interests of children. This story shows the cruelty of some people with children. It is inhumane to use a little girl as servant for all day and don’t give her time to rest, even more if it is her family using her.

  6. Children Labour This the story of another girl, Heba (fifteen) from Cairo, Egipt. Her parents got separated when she was three and she stayed with her dad. Her sister stayed with her mom. Heba started to work in a factory and as a housemaid to support herself and help her father but she failed.

  7. Children Labour She then ran away from her home and learnt with her mates to trick people and to sniff glue. They sold boxes of paper tissues and flowers to buy more glue. Heba is a victim of the poverty and the separation of her family. It’s also revolting to see that the people on streets (including the police) and the people she worked to didn’t try to help her.
