  2. Why Did We Pick Egypt? We chose to report on Egypt because it is one of the most well-known countries in Egypt and has a very rich and interesting history.

  3. Egypt’s flag is derived from the Arab Liberation flag and similar to the flag of Syria. The national emblem sets in the middle, a gold eagle of Saladin with a shield superimposed and a scroll with the name of the country in Arabic.

  4. Egypt’s Population Egypt’s population is approximately 83,082,869 people. 99.6% Egyptian 0.4% Other (mostly Bedouin and Arab)

  5. Land area • 386,662 square miles • 1,001,449 square kilometers • Egypt is about 4x the size of Michigan

  6. Population Density • Approximately 214 people per square mile • Costa Rica is very similar to Egypt with a population density of 215 people per square mile.

  8. Egyptian Food Most Egyptian meals include a dish with Fava beans, or broad beans. Tea is also a very popular drink throughout Egypt. Aysh (Egyptian bread) is round and flat, but puffs to create pockets for meat and vegetables. Most Egyptians drink Turkish-style coffee, very thick, black and strong.

Ful Madammas(Egypt’s National Dish) Makes 10 Servings 3 Pounds small dried fava beans 1 Large Onion (chopped) 2 ½ quarts cold water 2 Large Tomatoes (chopped) ¾ cup dried red lentils (rinsed) Salt to taste • Bring a pot of water to a boil, add Fava beans. Boil until soft enough to peel. Remove from water, peel. Place Fava beans in stewpot with onions, tomatoes and lentils and cover with water. Bring to a gentle boil. Cover and cook for 12 hours. Mash. Season with salt. Serve with olive oil, bread, onions, and radishes.

  12. A Fun Fact Egypt is the most populous country in the Arab world and the second most in Africa.

  13. Come On! Visit Egypt During the spring and summer months, you can enjoy the beaches of Egypt by windsurfing and snorkeling in ideal conditions. And if not that, you could immerse yourself in the rich history of Egypt and explore the ancient pyramids or the Nile that fertilized the ancient generations of Egyptians for thousands of years.
