  1. A Brief Outline of Tor, The Anonymous Network.

  2. Brief The dark web has been in the mind of people for a very long time. Over time there have been so many questions asked regarding how one can get into the dark web links, the deep web market links, what one needs to access the dark web and many more. In this PPT, we are focusing only on a browser or a network that would help you to get to the tor links. That being said, we do not encourage anyone to visit the onion directory links under any circumstances. But if you want to visit, you will be doing so on your own risk and responsibility.

  3. What is Tor? How can you download it? Tor is a web browser that anonymises your web traffic utilising its network and protecting your identity online when you are busy surfing the dark web websites. The tor browser has been protecting the identity of many users for years now. But on the other hand simultaneously, it also needs to be mentioned that nothing can protect you completely. Tor can be downloaded in a couple of ways depending on the device you are using to access the dark web links. If you are using your system (desktop and laptop), and you have either of the three Operating Systems viz., Windows, Mac or Linux, you can download it from the www.torproject.org. Android users can download the Orbot or Orfox or F-Droid from the Google Play Store. Alternatively, you can now download the tor android app from the Google Play Store. For additional security, download a VPN and be a premium member. If you are accessing on the i-Phone, consider Onion Browser from the Apple Store.

  4. How to use the Tor Browser? Using the Tor browser does not require any rocket science. All you have to do is download the tor browser from the places already mentioned before, install it and run it. It is that easy like any other regular browser. But you must also simultaneously run a VPN for better protection. If you are using the browser for the very first time, you will find that the browser works a bit slower than the regular browsers. But the best part is that it has been continuously evolving and considering the current situation, it has amped up its speed game. In future, it would work at par with the regular browsers on the speed parameter. A significant annoyance that you might face while working with the tor browser and the darknet sites is that many of the websites will show a 404 error. This means that the website you are trying to reach out is blocking the traffic. Also, the site, most of them, that are not retuning a 404 might require you to enter one or more captchas.

  5. How does the Tor Browser work? The Tor browser anonymises all your web traffic by routing it through the tor network. Tor consists of a tri-layer proxy, like layers of an onion (hence Tor's onion logo and the name). Tor Browser connects randomly to one of the publicly listed entry nodes then bounces that traffic via a randomly selected middle relay, and finally oozes out your traffic through the third and final exit node. Thus, while using Tor, you will often appear to be in a physical location just halfway around the world. If you live in a place that blocks Tor or requires to access a web service that blocks Tor, you can also try configuring Tor Browser to use bridges. Not similar to the  Tor's entry and exit nodes, bridge IP addresses are not listed publicly. This makes it hard for the web services or governments, to blacklist all of those IP addresses.

  6. Is the Tor Browser illegal? No, the Tor browser is not generally illegal. But many countries oppose it, and they have made certain restrictions that prohibit the users from accessing the tor browser. China has outlawed the Tor anonymity service and blocks Tor traffic from bypassing the Great Firewall. Countries like Saudi Arabia, Russia and Iran, are striving hard to prevent citizens from using Tor. Most recently, Venezuela has blocked all the Tor traffic.

  7. How to get on the dark web websites using Tor? • To do that, you have to have the address, the .onion urls of the websites you want to visit. You can also visit the dark.fail to gather some tor links to start off.  • Open Tor browser and simultaneously run a VPN. • On the address bar paste the address of a particular website and press enter.  • Alternatively, you can right-click on the mouse in the address bar and select “Paste & Go”. • Visit your preferred site and make sure not to disclose your personal identity anywhere.
