This can occur in two ways: partial bone impaction and soft tissue impaction. When just soft gum tissue covers the impacted tooth, this is known as a soft tissue impaction. Partial bony impaction can also happen when the tooth is completely or partially covered with bone. However, not all of these teeth have the potential to be problematic. An impacted tooth can occur in any permanent tooth.
