  2. Extrication Collar The Ambu Perfit extrication collar is designed to assist with the maintenance of neutral alignment, prevention of lateral sway and anterior-posterior flexion and extension of the cervical spine during transport and routine patient care or movement

  3. Sizing the Collar • Flip the chin piece from the back of the collar to the front of the collar • With the patient in neutral alignment, measure the distance between the patients shoulder and the angle of the patients jaw

  4. Sizing the Collar • Compare this distance with the distance from the collar sizing line to the lower aspect of the plastic collar body • Unlock the safety locks by pulling UP on the safety buttons on both sides • Pull OUT the ratchet latches on both sides

  5. Sizing the Collar • Adjust the collar to the appropriate size by extending it until it equals your finger measurement and reset the ratchet latches by pushing IN the arrows on both sides • Lock the safety locks by pushing DOWN on the safety buttons on both sides

  6. Fitting the Collar • Slide the front of the collar along the patient’s chest. Reset the patient’s chin securely in the chin piece in the neutral alignment position • Hold the front of the collar in place, wrap the back of the collar around the back of the patient’s head and neck

  7. Fitting the Collar • Secure to the front of the collar with the velcrotab • If the patient is supine, slide the back portion of the collar directly behind the patient’s neck • Once the collar is correctly fitting continue immobilising the patient with head blocks and spinal/ortho board
