Edward Peirson Richardson Jr., MD(1918-1998) • From a long line of HMS scholars/faculty: • Father & Paternal Grandfather Chiefs of MGH surgery • Mother: Clara Lee Shattuck; he was the 6th Shattuck physician & Shattuck street is where HMS is located • 1939 Harvard & 1943 HMS • 1944 – 1946: Served in WWII as a physician • 1946: MGH Psychiatry Resident under Dr. Stanley Cobb • 1947: Queens Square Neurology & Maudsley Hospital for Psychiatry • Queen Square-exposed to Dr. J. Goodwin Greenfield Neuropathology • 1949: MGH Asstistant to Dr. Charles Kubik in Neuropathology • 1951 – 1989: Neuropathology Lab Director • Worked with Adams, Miller Fisher, Castlemen, & Victor • Continued to work until a few months before his death from lymphoma • 1984: Bullard Professor of Neuropathology
