Solution Design Center (SDC) - OverviewShared service that gives presales the application level design assistance needed to… Lead the sales conversation with application focus Provide design guidance on how EMC solutions resolve application challenges Provide guidance to EMC presales, customers and partners through the ECN community: https://community.emc.com/community/connect/everything_microsoft Answer high level positioning questions on solutions Provide application sizing Own the datacenter and become our customers trusted advisors – Focus on what’s important to them first, build stronger relationships by enabling our customers application requirements

SDC Services • In addition to supporting the ECN Communities, we also offer the following services: • Application Sizing: The SDC provides application sizing services specifically around Microsoft, Oracle and SAP: • Microsoft Exchange Capacity Sizing • Solution Reviews: The SDC will review solutions, but they must be solutions that include multiple EMC products and a context (Microsoft) . A context is defined as the purpose of the EMC solution as it relates to our customers business applications – for example, “my customer is considering a multiproduct EMC solution to provide additional capacity and high availability for their growing Oracle environment”. Requests for Solution Reviews will be taken via the above referenced ECN Communities and SFDC. Depending on the level of information provided, the team will seek to answer the following questions when conducting reviews: • Will it work?• Is it supported?• Is it scalable?• Are there better options? • Note that the SDC will not be creating new solution designs, but will be reviewing submitted designs to provide feedback. There may be cases where an appropriate sizing tools could be used. In these cases please send any and all reports derived from running the tools. Please complete the running of the tool prior to opening a case. Do not send data files with your submission only the reports from the tools. • RFP Assistance: SDC will review RFP content related to EMC Solutions (multiple EMC products and a context – Microsoft ) that result in application enablement. Example: “Do you have a solution that can accelerate a landscape…”.

  5. Microsoft Exchange Sizing Submit a completed “Exchange 2010 Mailbox Server Role Requirements calculator” and the SDC will perform an Exchange sizing. http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/e2010calc

  6. SDC Engagement • The support the SDC provides is now applications focused (specifically: Microsoft, Oracle, and SAP). As such, we support the following ECN Communities where we help answer application related questions: • • Microsoft – https://community.emc.com/community/connect/everything_microsoft • Note that these communities are public (i.e. - not just EMC internal). We encourage you to get involved and actively participate in these new communities as they have a wealth of information and will be monitored by the SDC and other application specific experts. • The SDC can also be engaged via SFDC: https://login.salesforce.com/
