The Basic Idea • Use collaborative/group approach to teach citation • Groups of students become experts on particular aspects of citation • Groups of students teach their area of expertise to rest of the class

Why Citation? • “Instruction” already exists • Citation is not about knowledge or skills, but the ability to acquire knowledge and skills • Concrete/Achievable
Details • Groups of 3-4 students assigned one of 5 topics: • Cases • Statutes and Regulations • Secondary Sources • Signals, Subsequent History and Weight of Authority Parentheticals • Court Documents • Provided list of resources with which to “expertise” themselves • Group prepares lesson plan • Meets with me to discuss • Teaches class
