  7. Miami-Dade • Began in 1993 • Averages about 4,800 users/month • Has saved more than $20 million while providing $5million in revenue to transit

  8. Philadelphia • 5 million Medicaid trips in Pennsylvania – half in Philadelphia • Bus Passes and tokens provide frequent trips to recurring appointments • About 1,500 passes distributed/month – saving about $3 million per year

  9. Conclusions • Passes work in limited situations • If 1% of medicaid eligible trips were made on transit savings would be upwards of $200 million per year • More research is needed
