  3. Let’s focus on 7 Organ Systems What does each organ system to do keep our bodies functioning properly?

  4. This organ belongs to WHICH organ system?

  5. Skeletal System READY Bones connect at JOINTS. An adult human has 206 bones. The bones in your spine are called VERTEBRAE. The SKULL bone protects your head. BONE MARROW is at the center of bone. The RIB CAGE protects your lungs, heart, and liver.

  6. Brain & Nervous System READY This system controls EVERYTHING we do! There are 3 parts of the BRAIN SPINAL CORD NERVES

  7. Lungs and Respiratory System READY Trachea = WIND PIPE We breath in (inhale) OXYGEN and breath out (exhale) CARBON DIOXIDE.

  8. Heart & Circulatory System READY The heart has FOUR CHAMBERS. The sound we hear comes from the VALVES of the heart closing! CIRCULATION is the movement of blood throughout the body.

  9. Muscular System READY The CARDIAC muscle pumps blood throughout your body. SKELETAL muscles give your body strength and the ability to move. SMOOTH muscle is found in your digestive system. TENDONS connect muscles and bones together. Some of your biggest and most powerful muscles are in your back near your spine.

  10. Digestive System READY The LIVER removes harmful substances from the blood. The ESOPHAGUS moves chewed food from the back of the throat to the stomach. Adult SMALL INTESTINES are 22 feet long.

  11. Urinary System READY KIDNEYS filter wastes from the blood. Urine is stored in the BLADDER until you’re ready to pee (urinate). URETERS carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder. Urine exits the body through a tube called the URETHRA.

  12. Integumentary System READY READY The SKIN is the largest organ. MELANIN gives skin its color.

  13. Let’s make these nouns plural!!! Think of verbs that work well with these nouns in a sentence! Remember SUBJECT-VERB AGREEMENT.

  14. KIDBLOG CHALLENGE Write 10sentences about one body system. Include at least one adjectiveand one adverbin each sentence. Add your post as a comment in the correct blog post.
