    1. Prayer and Ritual Year 10 Religion Term 3 Prepared by Mr. Bernie Haughey What is prayer for me? Why do I pray? When do I pray? In what circumstances? Do I like praying? Why? What do you think of these definitions of Prayer? Pick out the one that appeals to you most, or make up your own definition of prayer. Prayer is talking to God. Prayer is talking and listening to God. Prayer is talking to oneself in the presence of God. Prayer is being aware of Gods presence. Prayer is any good action done for ones neighbour. Prayer is work. Work is prayer. Prayer is a journey. Prayer is presence and reverence, reverence with others in community. Prayer is dangerous, for it puts us into contact with God and our inner selves two great unknowns. Prayer is wasting time with the Lord. Prayer is the raising up of the mind and heart to God to adore Him, to praise Him, to thank Him etc. Prayer is standing alone with myself in the presence of God. Which of the above definitions do you agree with? Why?
