  1. THREATS AGAINST THE CHURCH Bulking Up and Mercy Giving, Part XII Jude 19-22

  2. Jude 19-22 19  These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit. 20  But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21  keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22  And on some have compassion, making a distinction; 23  but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh. 24  Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, 25  To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, Both now and forever. Amen.

  3. BUILDING AGAINST DEFECTION: (vs.20,21) • Foundational: “building yourselves up” (Most Holy Faith) the entire scope of Biblical truth. • Intercessional: “praying in or with the Holy Spirit” • Preservational: “Keep yourselves” (Personal responsibility) • Visional: “Looking for the Mercy” (outreach, opportunities to be merciful)

  4. BOLDLY RESCUING PEOPLE: (vs.22,23) • Reach out in Mercy: (Act like Jesus, lay down your life) • Reach out in compassion: (with distinction, our unique distinction as believers, not like the Romans who would kill you.) • Reach out in desperation:

  5. BENEDICTION: (vs.24,25) • Acknowledge the power of God to keep us from falling: • Acknowledge the power of God to present you to Himself “Faultless” • Acknowledge the unique qualities of God:

  6. Concluding in Jude • Defection is a real problem. • Preparing followers of Christ to be deeply rooted in our priority. • A Changing world will only intensify Apostasy. • Increased evangelism is an answer. • Strong defenders of the faith is our aim.
