  3. Project GoalsOhio State’s land-grant mission • Developing new partnerships through technologyOhio State’s land-grant mission • Meet the educational needs of distance learners • Assess QoS capabilities in the delivery of broadband distance education

Project Objectives • Capable of being easily set up and operated by one person at any location • Easily reproduced with various options, at low cost, using industry available components • Develop and test simplified methods of aiming the satellite dish • Operate the system in a wide variety of actual applications

  5. Project Objectives(Continued) • Demonstrate the system at conferences and other events • Submit papers to technical journals • Serve as an information resource • Establish a relationship with a local integrator • Create educational materials relevant to this project

Outreach and Engagement • Researchers and educators in field laboratories and off-campus classrooms requiring reliable satellite access to the inexpensive and fast connections • Bridges the rich resources of our academic community through high-quality Internet service to Ohio’s rural and remote areas

  7. Outreach and Engagement • Communities lacking high-speed, terra-connectivity to remove the “digital divide” and “transition into the new economy” • Partner with community-based organizations, alliances, school districts, and other higher education institutions

  8. Outreach and Engagement • Expand the learning opportunities of Ohioans to inner-city and rural and remote locations • Focus on the fundamental science and technology needed to facilitate the efficient, high-speed transfer of information

  9. Projected Outcomes and Deliverables • Increase the collaboration and dialogue with other higher education institutions, schools, and businesses/industry • Expand the partnerships between Ohio communities • Expand university outreach programming
