Fresno County contains a number of sites in the National Register of Historic Places • Designed in 1891, the Old Fresno Water Tower is one of Fresno’s most distinctive and enduring architectural symbols which stands 109 feet high. • It has now become the visitors center for the City and County of Fresno.

  12. Fresno Chaffee Zoo Approximately 125 species. Recently added Sea Lion Cove and Tropical Treasure exhibits. Hosts various events such as Safari Night, Zoo Boo, and Zoo Lights.

  13. Forestiere Underground Gardens • Dug and carved by BaldassareForestiere. • Over 10 acres of patios, grottos, and garden courts all interconnecting with passageways. • Tours open Memorial Day through Labor Day.

  14. Fresno State University • The Craig School of Business at CSUF is where many of our County professionals were educated. • Fresno is dripping in Bulldog Pride for it’s 18 Fresno State varsity sports teams.

Shinzen Japanese Friendship Garden inside Woodward Park The beautiful and serene Shinzen Garden with its lush plants, waterfalls, exotic birds and tranquil pond full of colorful Koi fish is picturesque. The garden also has an authentic Japanese Ceremonial Tea House from Japan that is one of two in the United States.

Fresno offers a slice of New Orleans • The annual Mardi Gras celebration is a fun, family friendly event. • While enjoying the parade there is plenty of fantastic Cajun and Creole food to eat. • There is usually a theme to floats and costumes, for example, last year it was a super hero theme. • Parade is on February 15th.

  17. The Big Fresno Fair • The largest annual event in the Central Valley • Held October 7th-18th • The fun food, rides, games, exhibits, races, and concerts offer entertainment for people of all ages, as well as providing jobs and recognition for locally grown agriculture and livestock.

Clovis Rodeo • People come from all over for the great rodeo action, the rodeo parade, the rodeo dance, concerts, and of course the famous tri-tip sandwiches. • As one of the top three rodeo’s in California and top fifteen in the nation, it promises world champion cowboys and the finest rodeo livestock in the best show on dirt year after year. • Held on April 23rd-26th.

  19. Fresno County’s Wine Country The cluster of wineries all located within 8 miles of each other make up a nice wine journey where you can preview and taste many vintages of locally produced wine.

Theme Parks • Fresno County has two waterparks to beat the extreme summer heat. • Wild Water Adventure Park is the largest water park in Central California. • The Island Waterpark, just off Highway 99, is also a fun family favorite. • Both parks offer a spectacular fireworks show for the 4th of July

  21. Christmas Tree Lane The famed lane has been a tradition for 92 years, where some 140 homes and millions of lights and displays draw more than 100,000 people to drive or stroll the lane each year. This year one of the homeowners on the lane won a national Christmas lights competition. “The Great Christmas Light Fight”, an ABC telecast series, awarded $50,000 and a trophy to the family at the end of the lane.
